On Saturday 1st February 2014 the Leopolda Station was the scene of an extraordinary solidarity event which saw the representatives of the various immigrant communities present in the Pisan territory collaborating together, without preclusions or reservations, who worked side by side with the Italian associations and the local institutions for the realization of the Solidarity Islands aperitif!
In a festive evening dedicated to solidarity, thanks to the numerous participants it was possible to raise the sum of 2271 euros which will be promptly paid to the “Il cuore si melt” Foundation for the projects planned in the Philippines.
In addition to the important result achieved, the evening represents a unique moment in the recent history of our city. The various foreign communities mobilized together with local associations, supported by the Municipality of Pisa, to promote an initiative that highlighted how, despite the difficulties and undeniable problems, a strong process of cohesion and mutual integration is underway in the territory.
The Solidarity Islands aperitif was not just a mere moment of fundraising, but is part of that process of integration and collaboration that is taking place between immigrant and non-immigrant associations in the Pisan area.
This process must be cultivated and encouraged, also with the support of local institutions, so that we can continue and work towards deep and complete integration.
The first steps are very encouraging and if the commitment made by the organizers in the creation of Isole Solidali represents the desire and trust in a broader project, well without a doubt, the results will be even more extraordinary.
